Back from the cruise...

Before we left for the cruise, we thought 12 nights on a ship seemed like a long time to sign up for... however, time flew by. And it proved to be a fantastic and extremely efficient way to see several countries in one shot. As mentioned before we left, our itinerary included a departure from Harwich, England and then ports of call including Oslo (Norway), Copenhagen (Denmark), Stockholm (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland), St. Petersburg (Russia) and Tallinn (Estonia). Our favorite city was Stockholm, followed closely by Tallinn Estonia.

We sailed on Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas. The ship was beautiful and offered a wide variety of on board activities (rock climbing wall, casino, gym, discos, bars, etc). The service was great... and despite the fact that they feed over 2,000 guests every day, the food was great.

As there are too many pictures to post at once, I'll post a few every day to follow the ports of call in chronological order.

Below are pics for our departure from Harwich England and the 1st day at sea.

Train ride from London Liverpool to Harwich - Finally a trip that did not require getting on a plane. It's easy to forget how scenic the English countryside is.

The ship flies the flag which represents the country it is in. In the case, the UK.
Our cabin - before we moved our bags in. Quite small, but it has all of the conveniences of a hotel (and actually more).
A muster drill is a mandatory procedure for all guests before the ship departs. The jacket made me feel large and in charge.

1st day at sea included a formal dinner.

Beth enjoying a martini in one of the bars before the formal dinner.

Don't jump.

Wow. Welcome back guys! I am so glad everything turned out to be the way you expected. I'm sad we were not able to go and be there, experiencing the same stuff together. We would eventually plan to go later.. too bad it won't be with both of you :(
Did you make new friends on the cruise?

Hi Geo, I'm responding to your comment :) We're sorry we couldn't take the trip together. I definitely recommend it as a future trip. It was great, and yes, we met a lot of wonderful people.
